Early Years:

Mustafa Cihan Aslan’s passion for music burgeoned from his early years in Adana. Encouraged by his father, a teacher and musician, Aslan immersed himself in the artistry of the bağlama, a traditional Anatolian instrument. This early exposure sparked a deep-seated love for music that became the cornerstone of his life.

His formal musical journey commenced at the Çukurova State Conservatory, where he honed his skills and laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. However, it was during his tenure at Bilkent University’s Institute of Music and Performing Arts that his passion blossomed into a full-fledged dedication to the craft. Inspired by the eclectic environment and diverse influences, he delved into various musical genres, exploring classical, jazz, and contemporary compositions.

Aslan’s musical prowess extended beyond academic pursuits. He ventured into composing music for theatrical productions, discovering a knack for creating evocative soundscapes that complemented the dramatic narratives onstage. This marked the beginning of his foray into the world of composition, where he found a platform to fuse his technical expertise with emotive storytelling through music.

His involvement in orchestral performances, notably as a saxophonist and clarinetist in jazz and symphony orchestras, provided invaluable experiences that shaped his musical identity. These live performances allowed him to connect intimately with audiences, fostering an understanding of the emotional resonance that music carries.

Upon joining forces with FFW Creative Audio in Istanbul around 2018, Aslan found a new avenue to channel his musical passion. Collaborating with industry professionals, artists, and directors, he refined his skills in composing music for cinema and advertising. He feels incredibly lucky to collaborate with Emin Yasin Vural, Ekin Eti, and Tolga Böyük at FFW Creative Audio. His ability to capture the essence of visual storytelling through music earned him recognition and solidified his position as a versatile composer and producer.

Even during the pandemic, Aslan’s unwavering commitment to music remained undeterred. His retreat to a serene mountain village didn’t hinder his creative output; instead, it served as a sanctuary where he continued to craft melodies, demonstrating an unyielding dedication to his artistry.

This enduring passion for music is not just a profession for Mustafa Cihan Aslan—it’s an integral part of his identity, a medium through which he communicates, expresses emotions, and leaves an indelible mark on the world.

Mustafa Cihan Aslan is married to ceramic artist Cemre Aslan.
